Danny Hansen Danny Hansen Blog About Contact SharePoint 2010 claim based authentication, new HttpWebRequest with use default credentials result 401 Posted on February 28, 2013 by admin Posted in Sharepoint 2010 Hi, At a customer site I am working at SharePoint 2010 was running in claim based mode with Kerberos. In a piece of code I was running I used a new HttpWebRequest object to retrieve images from a images library. string url = "http://mysite.dev.local/applicationicons/icon1.png"; var request = (HttpWebRequest)WebRequest.Create(url); request.UseDefaultCredentials = true; response = request.GetResponse(); result = Image.FromStream(response.GetResponseStream()); The GetResponse() method was giving me a 401 status code. When I was debugging I noticed that the user acount being used to retrieve the image was the NT Authority\IUSR account. This account has no permissions on my SharePoint site. After searching the web I cam across this Kb Article from Microsoft. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/979917 It describes a new Appsetting: After investigating I saw this option present I my SharePoint site with a value true. After changing this to false my code works and is executed under the account currently logged in. When you create a SharePoint 2010 Webapplication with claim based authentication this option is default present in the web.config and set to true. 401 HttpWebRequest SharePoint 2010 claim based SharePoint 20210 Taxonomy values not visible for some users Posted on February 6, 2013 by admin Posted in Sharepoint 2010 In a project I am working on some users didn’t see the value of a Taxonomy column in a list view or in display or edit form. When logging in with another user account the value was visible. After some investigating I saw that all the permissions on the “TaxonomyHiddenList” where gone. After restoring the user could see all values. To fix this just give the AD group: ‘NT AUTHORITY\authenticated users’ read permission on this list: /lists/TaxonomyHiddenList Taxonomy First character SharePoint 2010 internal field name replaced with its hexadecimal code Posted on January 31, 2013 by admin Posted in Sharepoint 2010 In a project I am working on I created a site column and a contenttype with xml. Here is my site column: Here is my contentype: I deploy this xml wih a feature on my site. The contenttype is added to the site. When we use SharePoint manager 2010 and look at the site contenttype and look at the column “Tab1” we see that the internal name is also “Tab1”. This is what I expect because that is the name that I added in my xml file. Now lets add this contenttype to our pages list. Again we use SharePoint manager 2010 and look at the column “Tab1” that is now added to our pages list. What do we see? The internal name has changed from “Tab1” to “_x0054_ab1”. After some testing and trying out different names I came to the conclusion that the first 4 characters of the internale name have to be non numeric. So when we change thet internal name to “Tabb1” the problem is gone. Another one of the strange OOTb features of SharePoint :p first character hexadecimal Internalname Create Applications and Credentials in SharePoint Secure Store Service with C# Posted on November 12, 2012 by admin Posted in Secure Store, Sharepoint 2010 For a project I was working on, I needed to read and write ApplicationId’s and Credentials to the Secure Store Service in SharePoint 2010. This is a helper class I created to perform some actions. You need to add a reference to Microsoft.Office.Server.SecureStore to build this. This Assembly is present in the GAC. You can’t find it when you try to add this within Visual Studio using System; using System.Collections; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Runtime.InteropServices; using System.Security; using Microsoft.BusinessData.Infrastructure.SecureStore; using Microsoft.Office.SecureStoreService.Server; using Microsoft.SharePoint; using Microsoft.SharePoint.Administration; using Microsoft.SharePoint.Administration.Claims; namespace MySharePoint.SecureStore { public static class SecureStoreManagement { #region Internals internal static SecureString MakeSecureString(string str) { if (str == null) { return null; } var str2 = new SecureString(); char[] chArray = str.ToCharArray(); for (int i = 0; i ssClaims = new List(){GetSecureStoreClaim("dev\\administrator")}; var targetApplicationClaims = new TargetApplicationClaims(ssClaims, null, null); iSecureStore.CreateApplication(new TargetApplication(name, friendlyName, contactEmail, ticketTimeOut, type, null),GetTargetApplicationFields(), targetApplicationClaims); } } private static IList GetTargetApplicationFields() { IList appFields = new List() { CreateTargetApplicationField(SecureStoreCredentialType.UserName,"Username",false ), CreateTargetApplicationField(SecureStoreCredentialType.Password,"password",true ), }; return appFields; } private static TargetApplicationField CreateTargetApplicationField(SecureStoreCredentialType type, string name, bool masked) { return new TargetApplicationField(name, masked, type); } #endregion #region Credentials public static void SetCredentials(string userName, string userPassword, string targetApplicationId) { IList creds = new List(2); creds.Add(new SecureStoreCredential(MakeSecureString(userName), SecureStoreCredentialType.WindowsUserName)); creds.Add(new SecureStoreCredential(MakeSecureString(userPassword), SecureStoreCredentialType.WindowsPassword)); using (var credentials = new SecureStoreCredentialCollection(creds)) { var iSecureStore = GetSecureStore(); iSecureStore.SetUserCredentials(targetApplicationId, GetSecureStoreClaim("dev\\administrator"), credentials); //if the target application is using group type credentials then call this.//iss.SetGroupCredentials(targetApplicationID, credentials); } } public static SecureStoreCredentialCollection GetCredentials(string targetApplicationId) { SecureStoreCredentialCollection credentials = null; var iSecureStore = GetSecureStore(); credentials = iSecureStore.GetCredentials(targetApplicationId); return credentials; } public static List VerifyStoredCredentials(SecureStoreCredentialCollection credentials) { var vcreds = new List(); foreach (SecureStoreCredential ssc in credentials) { vcreds.Add(ReadSecureString(ssc.Credential)); } return vcreds; } public static void DeleteSecureStoreCredentials(string targetApplicationId) { var iSecureStore = GetSecureStore(); iSecureStore.DeleteCredentials(targetApplicationId); } #endregion } } ApplicationId Credentials Secure Store Next Page ?
